The Royal Horticultural Society has partnered with Aardman for the summer launch of a Grand Bug & Pest Hotel Hunt inspired by the new comedy series, Lloyd of the Flies. Under the partnership, Lloyd and the series’ cast of characters will be making their way to RHS Gardens across the UK this summer as part of a special activation encouraging children to go on their bug hunt within each of the RHS sites. Children will be able to seek out characters including housefly Lloyd and his little sister PB, Abacus the woodlouse, and Cornea the butterfly in locations around each of the gardens as they make their way towards The Grand Bug & Pest Hotel. They will be encouraged to uncover a host of facts and interactive fun along the way. Families will also be able to use a special Augmented Reality app developed by Aardman to ‘shrink down’ and see the world through the eyes of the insects they are hunting. The Lloyd of the Flies AR Bug Hunt app will see characters from the hit CITV show pop up among the flowers in selected locations at RHS Bridgewater, RHS Harlow Carr, RHS Hyde Hall, RHS Rosemoor, and RHS Wisley. The app will be free to download from July. Matthew Walker, creator of Lloyd of the Flies, said: “I’m so excited to see the weird and wonderful world of Lloyd brought to life at the RHS Gardens. Being house-dwelling insects, Lloyd and his friends rarely go ‘outdoors’ so it’s very exciting for them to venture beyond their normal habitat and into RHS Gardens where they can relax in the luxury of The Grand Bug & Pest Hotel.”
