George at Asda launches sustainable Peppa Pig clothing range

George at Asda has partnered with Hasbro’s Peppa Pig and the carbon footprint offset platform, Ecologi to offer a new range of clothing made from responsibly sourced cotton, through the Better Cotton Initiative, as well as footwear, accessories, and toys. The range is to launch as part of Hasbro’s Plant with Peppa campaign, an initiative that aims to teach children all about the importance of trees to the world. The coinciding reforestation programme has pledged to plant some 10,000 trees at projects based in England, Wales and Scotland. The programme will see a variety of trees, including Oak, Maple, Crab Apple, Cherry, Silver Birch, and Scots Pine planted, while families will be able to check their progress at the Plant with Peppa, virtual Peppa Forest on the Ecologi website. Via the site, families will be able to click on each tree to find out where they have been planted and how well they are growing.
The range will include Peppa Pig toys made from FSC-certified wood
Meanwhile, the range from George will include boys and girls clothing, footwear and accessories, as well as wooden toys and play-sets made with FSC-certified wood from responsibly managed forests. Jade Snart, sustainability and compliance expert at George, said: “We’re very proud to have partnered with Peppa Pig to help support the Plant with Peppa campaign and the planting of 10,000 new trees in the UK. “All of the products within the range will have a sustainable element to them as here at George we’re committed to doing the right thing by our customers and the planet, by improving the sustainability of our products.” Catrina O’Brien, retail development director for Hasbro, added: “We’re so pleased to be partnering with George on our Plant with Peppa campaign and proud to be showcasing a range of products made with the planet in mind. “By planting 10,000 trees here in the UK, Peppa is helping to show that our actions can have a positive impact on future generations. We hope that it gives families an engaging way to learn all about the vital role trees play in the earth’s eco system.” The George x Peppa collection is now online and in selected stores.
