Products of Change will be delving into the latest updates from the world of packaging and fashion next week, with dedicated online workstream meetings taking place online. Mike Swain will be leading the latest discussion on new guidelines around Extended Producer Responsibility at 4.00pm on Tuesday, 23rd May. The POC Packaging Ambassador will delve into the finer details of the EPR legislation that will see the full cost of collecting household waste shift from the taxpayer to producers in the hope of delivering a more circular economy for packaging. Products of Change Members can sign up to join the meeting here. Business needs to be aware of the following key points: • Producers will have an increased financial incentive to use packaging that is widely collected from householders for recycling, as well as to increase recycled content in packaging • Additional data concerning packaging type and recyclability will need to be collected and reported every 6 months • Introduction of modulated fees could see producer compliance costs increase if you use hard or costly to recycle packaging • Reporting will need to be completed and aggregates for sales made in each of the devolved administrations (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) • From 1 April 2026, all packaging (except for flexible films) will need to display a binary recyclability label declaring either “recycle” or “do not recycle” On Wednesday, 24th May Products of Change’s Ambassador for Fashion, Julia Redman will be joined by a special guest – Zak Johnson, founder at Reborn and Naeco, to showcase the newest innovations in the fashion sector and bring updates around sustainability in fashion to the Products of Change membership. POC Members can register to attend the session – taking place at 4.00pm on Wednesday, 24th May here.
