HURR becomes first fashion rental platform to achieve B Corp status
The fashion rental platform, HURR has become the first of its kind to achieve a certified B Corporation status, following the implementation of a wide range of new sustainable practices at the business.
Already helping to lead the conversation around fashion circularity through its rental system, HURR’s latest development has been likened to a ‘dream come true,’ for a business ‘deeply committed to changing the future of fashion.’
A B Corp certification is awarded to businesses that demonstrate high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving, to supply chain practices and input materials.
It’s a validation that takes into consideration a business’ holistic approach including its business model, operation, and internal structure. Companies that achieve B Corp status are required to re-apply every three years.
Among the number of sustainable practices that HURR has implemented, one of its most recent is a partnership with the wet-cleaning service Oxwash which aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions throughout the washing process. This year, the rental platfom also launched its own reusable packaging for the delivery and returns service. Each bag is now able to be reused approximately 30 times before disposal.
HURR also now works with the carbon management platform CoGO to calculate the stats for each and every rental for total transparency on how much is saved.
“Since our inception we’ve dreamt of achieving B Corp status and worked hard to ensure HURR meets its requirements in order to make it possible,” said HURR’s founder Victoria Prew.
“We’re committed to changing the future of fashion and are excited to work together with other businesses to make it a reality.”
HURR now joins over 5,000 global businesses to have received B Corp certification, yet remains currently the only fashion rental platform with the accreditation.
