Kelvyn Gardner

Spearheaded by Kelvyn Gardner, the SUSSED poster reminds us all of the little things we can do each day to be more sustainable and its release today is a small part of his huge legacy to the licensing industry. Founder of Products of Change, Helena Mansell-Stopher reflects on how the SUSSED poster came about. “When Products of Change started, we had an overwhelming amount of people within the industry that were keen to join and learn about how to build more sustainable practices. We formed a Net Zero group headed up by June Kirkwood from Nutmeg Licensing and a leading voice within this group was Kelvyn Gardner.” Within the group it was suggested to create a ten-point plan to help industry to implement changes within the office and Kelvyn came up with the idea of SUSSED – sustainability simply every day. BBC, Nutmeg Licensing, PowerStation Studios, The Point 1888 and The University of the Arts, Central St Martins worked closely with Kelvyn to build the plan. “We were due to release the poster as we heard the devastating news of Kelvyn’s passing,” said Helena. “But now feel it is time to honour the passion Kelvyn had for the industry and release the poster in his memory. Thank you Kelvyn.” Regan Gardner, Kelvyn’s daughter said: “I remember when my dad first came up with SUSSED - we thought it was really good and catchy for the sustainability concept.” PowerStation Studios kindly sponsored bringing the poster to life and it was finished at the end of January. Claire Bradbury, director of PowerStation Studios commented: “Talking sustainability can seem incredibly daunting, it is such a big subject and there is so much to do, so where do you start? The SUSSED poster is a brilliant reminder that small changes are important, and you can make a difference every day. It was a brilliant idea from Kelvyn Gardner, and this is a small part of his huge legacy to our industry.” >>Download the SUSSED poster here Kelvyn Gardner passed away 26 January 2021. He was a licensing industry legend, founder of Asgard Media, long-time managing director of Licensing International UK and active Light Fund committee member. The family of Kelvyn Gardner have set a date of Friday March 5 to hold a special online memorial tribute in his honour. The licensing industry is being urged to save late afternoon/early evening on the date in their diaries, with more details to come as the family finalises the format for the send off.
