A bowling set made from sustainably sourced cork, a board game with an ocean rescue mission theme, and one global toy company’s transition to fully recyclable packaging over the next year have been shortlisted in this year’s Toy Industries of Europe’s Play for Change Awards Sustainability Category.
Marking the fourth edition of the Play for Change Awards, ten entries from toy companies across the world have been selected to be in the running for Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards – winners are due to be revealed today, September 19 at a ceremony in Brussels.
Since 2020, the TIE has been recognising toy makers who go the extra mile to protect the planet, encourage kids’ respect for one another, or invest in the skills they need to succeed in the future. Categories include: Diversity & Inclusion, Sustainability, and Life Skills.
TIE director general, Catherine Van Reeth, said: “It is incredibly rewarding to witness the ongoing efforts of toy manufacturers in shaping a better future for our children.
“This year, once again, we were impressed by the exceptional entries. The judges faced tough decision, especially in the Life Skills category, where the choice became challenging. As a result, we will be acknowledging two companies jointly for one of the Awards this year.
“Congratulations to all finalists, it is a great achievement of which you should be very proud.”
