A new step-by-step guide to help independent fashion retailers tackle sustainability will be making its debut when the doors of the Olympia London open to the global fashion buying show, Pure London next month. The Independent Fashion Retailer Sustainability Toolkit has been created as ‘an invaluable resource’ providing retailers tangible and practical information on everything from reducing their carbon footprint and energy consumption to sustainable packaging. The toolkit has been written by Pure London’s Sustainability Advisor, Olivia Pinnock and is designed to explore the key areas fashion retailers need to address to move towards a more sustainable way of working. Five chapters will cover mapping your impact and creating a strategy, operating stores in a more eco-conscious way, sourcing mindfully, embracing circularity, and how to communicate this all to customers. It will also present two independent retailer case studies with Trad Collective in Leeds and the winner of the High Street Shop of the Year Sancho’s in Exeter as they share how they embrace sustainability in their business and its benefits. The toolkit will also feature Fashion Lectures videos with Olivia, covering the climate crisis, circularity, and sustainability. “We fully understand the importance of reducing the environmental impact within the fashion industry and are determined to use our global platform to inform on this critical topic and provide unrivalled advice,” said Gloria Sandrucci, event director of Pure London. To celebrate the launch of the Toolkit, Pure London will have a Sustainability stand at this year’s show. Olivia will also be a part of a panel session on Monday, 13th February at 3.30pm called Heads Together: Succeeding in Sustainable Retail where she will be joined by Annick Ireland, founder of Immaculate Vegan, Josefin Wanner, fashion designer and co-founder of Trad Collective, and Kalkidan Legesse, ceo of OWNI. Pure London will take place on 12th to 14th February at Olympia London.
