Following on from our popular webinar earlier this year on the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and in light of the recent cancelled postponement, POC hosted a Part 2 EUDR webinar last week.
Joining us was Oliver Cupit, head of sustainable business & finance, and Dr Mirjam Hazenbosch, sustainable business programme manager, at the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), and Niina Niemela, senior manager of sustainability, UPM.
Mirjam and Oliver outlined recent changes in EUDR, including the EU Commission’s proposal to extend compliance dates to 2026 for medium and large enterprises, and 2027 for micro and small enterprises, with a grace period for penalties. The Council suggested further delays and simplifications, while the Parliament proposed removing printed products from the scope.
Niina detailed UPM’s preparations and the potential impacts of these changes. Nicola Torre from DK emphasised the need for continued readiness despite uncertainties. The discussion highlighted the complexity and evolving nature of EUDR compliance.
