Reflaunt taps DHL Supply Chain to scale secondhand circular fashion

The fashion resale technology platform, Reflaunt has partnered with DHL Supply Chain to enhance its resale capabilities within Europe by tapping into the group’s network of warehouses, offices to help boost the scalability of circular fashion.

Offering brands a new and viable avenue to manage their returned products and tap into the growing market for second hand and pre-loved goods, the strategic alliance will allow for such items to be routed directly towards resale channels. This will enable brands to monetise merchandise that would otherwise result in losses and all too often, landfill.

The new partnership is therefore equipped to manage the processes involved in handling pre-owned items, starting with inspection and authentication and operating all the way through to listing for sale.

Reflaunt already offers Concierge and Takeback services for some of the leading luxury brand and retail names across Europe, including Balenciaga, Net-a-Porter, and Ganni. Its services are already fully integrated into a European DHL Supply Chain warehouse operation.

Circular fashion’s untapped goldmine

It’s estimated that $2.1 trillion worth of fashion is currently sitting idle in customers’ wardrobes. However, the challenge for fashion brands and resale platforms alike is acquiring, processing, and then selling this dormant inventory.

While Reflaunt currently reaches more than 30 platforms, including eBay, through its new partnership with DHL it will be able to maximise the sell-through of items, including returns, providing brands with a ‘comprehensive solution that mitigates the complexities of the resale market.’

DHL Supply Chain will manage the logistics process on behalf of Reflaunt, from handling items received from customers’ homes to inventory management, storage, pick-and-pack, and outbound distribution.

Massimo Degiorgi, vp DHL Supply Chain EMEA business development e-commerce and retail, said: “DHL Supply Chain is all about staying ahead and leading the charge in sustainable business practices. We’ve been helping clients streamline their e-commerce operational game for years, tackling growing issues like returns, especially in the ever-demanding fashion industry.

“Our expertise in logistics and returns solutions, coupled with out logistics footprint, harmonizes with Reflaunt’s technology, positioning this collaboration as a scalable resale option within the market and for our existing customers.”

The partnership means Reflaunt can offer brands a scalable and economically viable resale solution that is integrated with their post-purchase services.

Stephanie Crespin, ceo of Reflaunt, said: “For years, first and second hands have been in separate corners. You buy and item from a brand, then sell it in a completely different experience. It’s been a headache for users and brands alike. Reflaunt’s been shaking things up by tearing down the walls between first and second hand and e-commerce and re-commerce.

“Our cooperation with DHL opens the door to a seamless circular supply chain. Imagine one place handling first hand fulfilment, returns, resale management, and other end of life solutions such as recycling. That’s the game-changing expertise Reflaunt brings to supply chain operators, and teaming up with DHL is a real win.”
