Reducing carbon emissions across its production and UK operations is the next hurdle on the sustainability trail for the licensed accessories specialist, Small World Accessories, the team has told Products of Change.
The company has already dedicated time and energy to implement a variety of measures across its production systems over the last 12 months, having introduced recycled materials into 73% of its product portfolio since February 2021.
The team in charge of sustainability at Small World Accessories had set a target of 80% by the end of 2022, a target that was only narrowly missed. In 2022, its Autumn/Winter ranges ran at 79% recycled content.
The business is now dedicated to further place responsibly produced alternatives in the hands of its target audiences as it eyes the next move on its journey towards a reduced impact and improved sustainability.
Attention will now turn to improving its reporting and process implementation to reduce carbon emissions across its Tier One factories as well as its own UK operations.
“The proactive discussions we are having with our factories regarding carbon emission reduction is really exciting,” Dominic Galvin, managing director of Small World Accessories, told Products of Change.
“We know this will take time but when the momentum kicks in, then we will start to see positive results. As a business, we are excited about having these discussions rather than passively waiting for others.”
