‘World’s most sustainable florist’ Wild & Bloom receives B Corp accreditation

The ethical flowers and gift specialist, Bloom & Wild is celebrating its official induction to the hall of B Corp businesses with the launch of a new bouquet through which the company will donate proceeds towards Rewilding Britain.

As part of its ongoing mission to ‘care wildly for people and the planet’ Wild & Bloom was officially certified a B Corporation at the start of the year with an impact score of 106.5 on the B Lab scale. The threshold score for becoming a B Corp is currently 80.

To celebrate the success, Wild & Bloom launched its Lovely Leftovers Bouquet, a collection of bouquets made from the stems of leftover flowers – giving them a “good home, when they are just too good to compost.”

A donation of £1 from every purchase of it’s the Lovely Leftovers Bouquet will be made to Rewilding Britain’s Innovation Fund, an initiative to direct money into enhancing, restoring, and regenerating species-rich habitats across the country ‘to the point where nature can take care of itself again.’ Projects the funds will help drive forward include rewilding urban sites in Newcastle and researching the reintroduction of lynx in Scotland.

“The B Corp movement requires us to think equally about People, Planet, and Profit. And much of our innovation over the last few years has been with our Planet in mind,” said Sibbe Krol, director of sustainability at Wild & Bloom via a social media post this week.

“From launching organic products, supporting fair trade practices, and being an early industry adopter of proprietary AI to reduce waste, to more recent innovations such as pioneering the use of sea rather than air freight and setting up dedicated carbon budgets per bouquet, based on flower stem carbon footprinting.

“A huge thank you to many people on our team who have contributed to our certification efforts and for everyone who helps us care about our impact day in, day out. We are by no means done. Being a B Corp is an ongoing responsibility and there’s a long road ahead, for example to Net Zero.

“We’ll be continuing to innovate for People and Planet and Profit throughout 2024.”
