Details of a new course to help consumer goods industry professionals meet the demands from the customer and incoming legislation when it comes to sustainability in packaging, have now been announced across the Products of Change platform.
The Circular Packaging Design Course will tackle head-on the design and thought processes required to develop packaging and packaged goods for the circular economy and arm businesses and individuals with the knowledge and tools required for when the UK government’s circular policies begin to kick in.
The course will consist of a three-hour online session followed up with a one-day face-to-face workshop taking place in Central London next month to be led by Products of Change’s packaging and materials ambassador Mike Swain.
Utilising his 30 years’ experience of the packaging sector with the likes of Unilever and P&G, Mike will deliver the course alongside his colleague and lecturer in packaging design at Greenwich University, Richard Coles.

The three-hour online webinar will take place from 9.30am to 12.30pm on 9 March 2023 and will act as a ‘scene setting’ session educating attendees on the circular economy and its context in the packaging sector.
This will be followed by an in-person workshop held at the Informa Offices in Central London on 14 March, running from 9am to 5.30pm. The face-to-face workshop will be split into two sessions. The morning session will look at packaging design and its influences and approaches, while the afternoon session will explore impact and the importance of keeping packaging relevant.
Learners will also have the option of a fourth and final course element, a 30 minute one-on-one follow up session with packaging experts Mike or Richard to talk over individual case. This follow-up option will be available for up to one month after the in-person workshop.
“This course is for all those involved with packaging, whether or not you are well-versed in the intricacies of the industry,” said Mike. “It will provide a grounding and framework on how to approach packaging design, specification, and selection to make it more circular today and in the future as the circular economy evolves.”
The course is priced at £650 plus VAT with a 20% discount available for Products of Change members using the code POCmember. Course spaces are limited to 20 people. To book your place, head to the booking page here.
