Kennedy Publishing has expanded its licensed portfolio, teaming with Mattel on the launch of a new Monster High magazine. By Samantha Loveday, Licensing Source.
The acquisition of the magazine continues Kennedy’s collaboration with Mattel, as it already publishes the standalone magazines for Barbie and Fireman Sam. Both Kennedy Publishing and Mattel are members of Products of Change.
The Monster High title will include ‘fangtastic’ puzzles, ‘claw some’ colouring and a comic based on the animated series. Each issue also includes collectable posters and a cut-out paper doll to bring the brand to life.
“We’re thrilled to be publishing the official Monster High magazine from July, further strengthening our longstanding partnership with Mattel,” commented Sophie Rowlands, licensing director at Kennedy Publishing. “Monster High is a fun, iconic brand with a passionate fanbase, and we’re excited to bring its unique world to life for readers.”
Claudia Lucarella, head of publishing EMEA at Mattel, continued: “We’re delighted to expand our collaboration with Kennedy Publishing. At Mattel, publishing is a powerful tool to extend storytelling and deepen emotional connections with our brands – and Monster High is a perfect example. It’s a brand that champions individuality, self-expression and inclusivity, and the magazine brings these values to life in a way that is fun, accessible and creative.
“With this launch, we’re offering fans a new way to immerse themselves in the world of Monster High through engaging content, all inspired by the rich universe of the animated series and beyond. As we continue to build out our publishing ecosystem across EMEA, partnerships like this allow us to create meaningful touchpoints that inspire young readers and celebrate the power of play through storytelling.”
The first issue is on sale from 9 July, with a new issue every five weeks.
