Licensing Expo | Walt Disney Company and The LEGO Group explore sustainable packaging

The Walt Disney Company and The LEGO Group will be joining Products of Change for a Las Vegas Licensing Expo special panel session exploring and understanding how to mitigate the impacts of our use of packaging across the consumer products industry.

Taking place on Tuesday, May 21, the 30-minute session will be filled with insight as Yalmaz Siddiqui, vice president of environmental sustainability at The Walt Disney Company, and Jakob Max Hamann, business development and sustainability governance of LEGO partnerships, licensing, and publishing join Products of Change’s founder and ceo, Helena Mansell-Stopher for an explorative and informative session on product packaging.

The session will be held at the License Global stage at 2pm local time.

Creative expertise will be shared as attendees will be walked through the steps both The Walt Disney Company and the LEGO Group have been taking to mitigate the environmental impact of their packaging through the use of engaging design and introduction of innovative materials. Both companies have made form commitments to reduce packaging waste and the use of plastics in their packaging.

The LEGO Group’s Jakob will share insight from within the team’s packaging design department, sharing the development process behind the toymaker’s commitment to remove all single-use plastic packaging from its products by 2025.

The session arrives just as packaging begins to fall under the microscope of new global legislation. And, as global policies – such as the packaging Extended Producer Responsibility and the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive – evolve, it’s becoming ever more crucial to understand the repercussions of our production practices.

“As brand stewards, it is now upon us to shoulder the responsibility for minimising environmental footprints,” said Products of Change’s Helena Mansell-Stopher.

“In what promises to be a very insightful event hosted by Products of Change, attendees will get to witness the commitment of two major global brand leaders as they unveil the strategies and support systems they’ve instituted for their license partners to mitigate packaging impacts.”
