Peter Rabbit has hopped into a new partnership with the baby and toddler lifestyle brand, MORI, to launch a collection of clothing made from the company’s signature bamboo and organic cotton fabrics.
In a licensing deal executed by Penguin Ventures on behalf of the World of Peter Rabbit brand owner and Beatrix Potter publisher, Frederick Warne & Co (part of Penguin Random House), the collection of day and sleepwear features Peter Rabbit in a botanical print.
Akin Onal, founder of MORI, said: “We’re so excited to share our latest collection, Peter Rabbit by MORI, with our customers and the world. It has been a joy to design and to get back to reading these classic stories.”
Since 2015, MORI has been on a journey to deliver the most sustainable baby and toddler clothing possible. The brand has made commitments to reducing its environmental impact through its production and factory processes and promotes the longevity and reuse of its range of clothing.
The Peter Rabbit is made from MORI’s signature fabric blend of 30% organic cotton and 70% bamboo. Its bamboo is sourced from a sustainably managed resource in China while its organic cotton comes from Turkey, is GMO-free and supports sustainable development programmes for workers.
Through the treatment process, the raw bamboo is crushed and cotton is cleaned at MORI’s ‘environmentally-conscious’ facilities and experienced mills. The two ingredients are then heated with limited chemicals and water to create pulp. This pulp is then dried and separated into sheets.
These sheets are then mechanically combed and spun into yarn using a spinneret. This is then wound onto bobbins ready for weaving into the fabric.
Lindsay Pearl, head of international licensing at Penguin Ventures, said: “MORI values quality, design, and being able to delight families and so are the perfect partner to create this wonderful new collection of Peter Rabbit day and sleepwear.
“We are so excited to be working with MORI on this worldwide launch and to be able to bring such a playful assortment of clothing to Peter Rabbit fans around the world.”
The sleepwear range includes a zip-up sleepsuit, pyjamas, long sleeve bodysuit, and a 1.5 tog froint opening sleeping bag.
The daqy collection features a collared blue cardigan inspired by Peter Rabbit’s own blue jacket, a tan ribbed bonnet complete with floppy bunny ears, and an ecru organic cotton sweatshirt.
