Perhaps it was his remorse for eating all the radishes to begin with but more likely Penguin Random House’s latest move to align the iconic Peter Rabbit with the booming grow-your-own market that now finds the eponymous hero in a new partnership with Seed Pantry.
Under the new partnership, Seed Pantry – a specialist in enabling hobbyists to grow their own fruit and vegetables from seeds – is set to launch a new range of Peter Rabbit learning and gifting products for high street retailers.
Aimed at children and young families, the new collection has been developed to tap into the ‘increasing desire among the public’ to join the grow-your-own food movement and “boost knowledge – from a young age – of healthy eating, understanding where food comes from, and growing quality produce in your own back garden.”
The first products from the new range will launch in spring this year.
Announcing the partnership via its social media channels this week, Seed Pantry said: “We’re so thrilled to become a newly licensed co-branded partner for Peter Rabbit, working with Penguin Random House and their amazing brand team.
“The Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit stories have been read by generations of children for over 120 years and now seen in the recent new movies. It is a much loved, trusted, and highly recognised brand around the world.
“We look forward to bringing you exciting updates from our Peter Rabbit partnership in the coming weeks.”
Seed Pantry has made it its mission “to get everyone growing more plants, food, and flowers” and to enable people to “enjoy the rewards of nature and the health benefits plants bring to your life.” The business delivers monthly gardening subscription boxes for growing food and flowers at the right time, as well as one-off boxes and grow kits.
“We want to have a minimal impact on the environment, so our goal is for everything to be either organic, bio-degradable, recycled (including the packaging), recyclable, or should be used for a lifetime like your favourite trowel,” reads a description on the company’s website.
“We want nature to work for you in a sustainable way without creating unfriendly waste. We are a start-up with a fresh approach and are always looking for ways to improve what we do.”
Seed Pantry is run today by a team passionate about plants, horticulture, design, technology, and gardening.
