How the heritage sector is powering sustainable licensing | POC Conference 2025

Heritage brands from the POC Community are continuing the conversation begun in the A/W magazine at the POC Conference next week.

After speaking to and interviewing a selection of heritage brands and POC Members for the Autumn/Winter issue of the POC magazine, it was clear there was so much more to talk about than could be fitted into the three pages of one magazine article.

So for the POC Conference next week we are bringing those brands back together, to dig even deeper into this conversation about what makes a heritage brand what it is, and how they are weaving sustainability deep into the heart of their licensing programmes.

Joining the panel discussion, led by POC editor, Kathryn Brand, will be Hannah Aspey, head of brand licensing at Curating Cambridge; Freddie Hack, sustainability manager at the RSPB; Louisa Skevington, licensing manager at the Natural History Museum; Tracey Smith, commercial partnerships and licensing manager at the Eden Project; and Abbie Taylor, brand licensing manager at the Zoological Society of London.

Heritage brands are safe guarders and creators of our culture, and the way we interact with both the history and current state of our world. Which is perhaps why they lend themselves so well to sustainability action and ambition and lead the way in environmentally conscious product creation.

From preserving wildlife to protecting cultural history, heritage organisations carry a unique responsibility – and an unparalleled opportunity – to inspire change. Licensing is becoming a vital extension of this mission, transforming consumer products into vehicles for education, impact, and sustainable practice.

In this powerful conversation, the panellists will explore how their licensing programmes are not only building revenue to support their causes but also embedding environmental and social responsibility into the very fabric of their brand partnerships. Discover why sustainability is central to their strategies, how they’re leveraging the power of consumer connection, and what it means for the wider brand and licensing industry to follow their lead.
