Stepping towards sustainability | Products of Change celebrates five years of industry action

Trademark eclecticism was the order of service when members from across the fashion, entertainment, sports, charity and conservation, publishing, and sustainability sectors were brought together to celebrate five years of Products of Change this week.

Sticking with its modus operandi of uniting the ‘individuals who care’, Products of Change was proud to celebrate with members from all walks of business at a special event held at the Informa Markets offices in London.

Guests were treated to 360-degree views of London from the 19th floor of the Blackfriars landmark in a tip of the hat to the special relationship Products of Change has enjoyed with Informa Markets and the Global Licensing Group over the course of its five-year history, as a strong industry turnout raised a glass to a collective ambition to ‘drive change’ across the global business of brand licensing and consumer products.

Members from the likes of Penguin Ventures, the RSPB, Warner Bros. Discovery, the LEGO Group, George at Asda, Magic Light Pictures, and Rainbow Productions joined those from Fabacus, Informa Markets, Smiley, Reemsborko, and Max Media for an evening of networking and toast making to the sustainable development of business.

Products of Change began its life back in 2019 when a collective of brand and licensing folk came together to swap ideas about industry sustainability and the critical need to reduce our collective impact.

“It started with seven people around a table, five years ago, with one big idea to look at how we – as an industry – can start to do things differently,” said Helena Mansell-Stopher, ceo and founder of Products of Change. “We are such a creative industry, and I knew we could utilise that creativity and energy and use it to drive positive change across a wonderful sector filled with wonderful people.

“So, I want to say thank you to you all, this collective we have today – all our amazing ambassadors, and everyone who has contributed and dedicated their time and skills, and energy to helping us all bring Products of Change to where it is now. Products of Change is about all of you.”

Earlier the same day, Products of Change hosted a 2030 alignment meeting with numerous brand owners from across the UK brand and licensing sector to drive forward the next phase in industry collaboration with a rallying call for greater collection and sharing of data as well as input towards Products of Change’s current project to build an industry-wide methodology for measuring, tracking, and reducing Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas emissions.

Held at Warner House in London, the meeting brought together individuals from Warner Bros. Discovery, BBC Studios, the LEGO Group, Penguin Ventures, George at Asda, and Magic Light Pictures to talk successes and next steps for the sustainable development of brand and licensing.

With five years to hit 2030 climate goals, Products of Change is now gearing up for the next phase of the industry’s evolution and maturity with sustainable development.
