The United Nations will be delivering a keynote talk to kick off a day of sustainable education and action when the Sustainability in Licensing Conference makes its return to the Royal Geographical Society in London next month.
Caroline Petit, Deputy Director of the United Nations Regional Information Centre will help set the tone and agenda for the day by engaging the global brand licensing and retail industries with the topic of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the many roles that business can play in the transition to a prosperous and sustainable future.
Her talk will kick off a jam-packed agenda of panel sessions and speakers curated to tackle some of the biggest and most important conversations taking place in business at the moment, including the swathes of legislative changes heading our way and the tools and systems we can start using now to create the licensing industry of tomorrow, today.
The Sustainability in Licensing Conference will be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London and will take place on Wednesday, 8 November 2023. Tickets are available to book now for both in-person and digital-only attendance. The event will once again be live-streamed to audiences around the world.
The Sustainable Development Goals is a framework laying out 17 ambitions to meet by 2030 to secure a sustainable and prosperous future for everyone. The framework spans ambitions such as ‘responsible consumption’, ‘equity’, and ‘quality education’ and acts as a set of goals with which businesses and individuals can align and act in pursuit of.
Through various industry Compacts, the United Nations has been working to bring industry and business in closer alignment with the 17 SDGs
“The world is not on track to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the 2030 deadline. We need a leap in action before it is too late, and the private sector is key to accelerating progress towards the SDGs,” Caroline told Products of Change.
“The brand licensing industry has already embarked on the sustainability journey and can act as a catalyst by making the goals part of every consumer’s environment. You are the agents to create change. Protecting the planet is an investment in future prosperity for all.”
Caroline joins a line-up of speakers and representatives from some of the biggest names in global brand licensing, including the Walt Disney Company, Hasbro, the LEGO Group, DK Books, Difuzed, Team GB and many more.
