POC is supporting the Light Fund’s 5-3-1 Peaks Challenge

Nicola Webster, POC’s community manager and social media strategist is joining a host of other licensing industry professionals to take on the latest Light Fund fundraising challenge

Three weeks from today, I’ll be taking on the Light Fund’s latest challenge – the 5-3-1 Peaks.

I bravely (or perhaps foolishly) signed up to take on all five peaks, which involves hiking up (and down) the five highest peaks in the UK and Ireland – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon, Carrauntoohil, and Slieve Donard – a challenge which amounts to 64kms and 5,033m of ascent in five days.

Training has so far included hiking over 1,000km (including taking on an Ultra Challenge round the Isle of Wight of 110km in 2 days), lots of core and strength training – and more squats than I can keep count of!

Sponsorship money all goes directly to The Light Fund, which distributes funds to charities at the end of each year. A proportion of the 5-3-1 Peaks Challenge money will be going to the England & Wales Mountain Rescue charity.

The challenge is being organised by a team from The Light Fund alongside specialist event company Adventurous Ewe, which specialises in responsible and sustainable travel experiences.
