British-based global nursery brand, and POC Member, iCandy, has announced the completion of its full-scope carbon footprint with Seedling.
iCandy‘s work with carbon footprinting company, Seedling, has covered emissions across its operations, supply chain, travel and more, building a clear view of its biggest emissions hotspots. iCandy has also now set SBTi-aligned targets to reduce them, and has practical plan for action. Its next steps are to put that plan into practice, improving data quality over time, and sharing progress.
“Working with Seedling has given us some really valuable insight into our carbon footprint and has provided a solid foundation for the next stage of our sustainability journey. We’re now moving on to developing a carbon reduction plan and setting Science Based Targets to help guide our longer-term ambitions.
“It’s been a really positive process so far, giving us a much clearer understanding of our emissions hotspots and where we can make meaningful improvements and is helping us put the right building blocks in place to create a credible and measurable pathway towards reducing our environmental impact. We’re making good progress and are excited to keep building on this,” said Mark Bradbury, head of product management at iCandy.
After launching the iCandy IMPACT team (formerly the Sustainability Taskforce) a couple of years ago to drive the company’s efforts, iCandy has been working hard integrating sustainability into the business. As a family brand supplying products to the newest generation, iCandy feels it has a responsibility to care about and protect the world for that generation, said iCandy’s head of communications, Anna Owers.
iCandy’s sustainability achievements so far include its iService repair and restoration programme, coupled with its five-year warranty, designed to keep iCandy pushchairs in use and out of landfill for longer. In addition, in March 2024, iCandy also achieved its ISO 14001 certification which it is working to maintain by continually introducing new sustainable practices into the business. “From exploring eco-friendly materials to reducing packaging waste and enhancing product longevity, we’re always looking for ways to improve,” said Anna.
The company has also introduced a box reuse policy, cycle-to-work scheme, and continues to encourage more sustainable choices, driven by its IMPACT team.
