Extreme E appoints new commercial director to grow partnerships and engagement

The electric off-road racing championship, Extreme E has taken the latest move to broaden its offering and brand engagement, appointing Peter Gallagher to the position of commercial director.

Most recently the head of partnership development at Arsenal FC, Peter’s role will be to ‘take the series to the next level’ targeting new race locations and teeing up more industry-leading partnerships, while nurturing the brand’s current portfolio of partners.

Extreme E, now in its third season, is often described as a motorsport championship like no other, already involving some of the biggest names in the industry including Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg, Carlos Sainz Sr, and McLaren, Andretti, and Chip Ganassi.

The series competes in some of the world’s most aggressive and challenging environments while using the power of sport to raise awareness around climate change and promote diversity. Its aim is to ‘leave a lasting legacy’ in the areas where it races.

“I am looking forward to working with out stellar roster of current partners, those who are yet to join the family, and the whole Extreme E team to help push the agenda for environmental sustainability, equality, and innovation forward,” said Peter.

Peter’s 12 year career in the sports industry to date has seen him work with the likes of Fulham Football Club before going to a variety of business development roles with Manchester City FC, IRONMAN, and Arsenal FC.

Extreme E is currently preparing for the second round of Season 3, the Hydro X Prix, taking place 13 to 14thMay in Dumfries and Galloway, in Scotland. The championship will be aired live on ITV1 and STV1 in the UK.
