Licensed greeting card, calendar, and gift wrap company, Danilo, has unveiled its 2025 Sustainability Plan – a roadmap designed to drive the business, its partners, and the wider industry towards Net Zero by 2050.
At its core is a clear message: collaboration is key. By working hand-in-hand with factories, logistics partners and retailers, Danilo aims to unlock the biggest carbon reductions across its supply chain.
The company is already seeing meaningful change. In 2024, 85% of products left the press in plastic-free packaging and 99% were FSC-certified. Now, the focus shifts to the biggest challenge: Scope 3 emissions, which make up the vast majority of the footprint.

A central step will be joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), with near-term targets validated against a 1.5°C pathway. “SBTi will formalise our ambitions and sharpen our focus on measurable reductions,” explains Claire Bates, senior marketing & sustainability manager. “It’s about accountability and momentum.”
The new plan includes:
- Factory & logistics benchmarking to measure carbon, waste and packaging practices.
- Retailer end-of-life reviews to reduce downstream waste.
- Smarter logistics, with consolidated loads, lower-carbon transport, and exploration of greener fuels.

Looking ahead, Danilo is also preparing for Digital Product Passports, in line with the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). SKU-level material data and traceability will begin rolling out between 2026–2027. On packaging, the ambition is clear: by 2030, every pack should be recyclable, reusable or compostable, with universal recycling and material labelling introduced by 2027.
Closer to home, Danilo continues to cut its operational footprint. In 2024, nearly half of office energy came from onsite solar panels, supported by EV charging points and Cycle to Work schemes. A full heat & energy audit in 2025 will highlight the next steps for Scope 1 reduction.
