Ecoffee Cup has partnered with the award-winning social enterprise, Change Please to launch a limited-edition, charity-branded version of if reusable coffee cup.
Aligning on their respective missions to use coffee drinking as a force for societal change, both Change Please and Ecoffee Cup are acting to help shift the social and environmental landscapes through awareness and activism.
At Change Please, 100% of its profits go into helping people experiencing homelessness by training them to become baristas, supporting them to turn their lives with a living wage, housing, therapy, a bank account, and onward employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, Ecoffee Cup is on a mission to reduce the waste from the 300 billion single-use coffee cups produced each year by perpetuating the reusable message through corporate partnerships and brand licensing. At the end of last year, Ecoffee Cup made headlines for its partnership with EasyJet to supply reusable utensils and cups to the entire company’s staff
The Change Please Ecoffee Cup is made from 100% renewable, plant-based materials that – while they are made to last a lifetime – are also both commercially compostable or recyclable at the end of their life.
In December last year, Change Please piloted its latest impact programme in the US when it launched a New York programme in partnership with the local homeless charity, Covenant House. The pilot included a two-week intensive barista training programme that provided participants with world-class barista and coffee theory training, as well as an immersive workplace experience.
At the end of their training, graduates are either employed at a Change Please coffee shop or introduced to a potential employer.
“If we can just get a small proportion of coffee drinkers to simply change where they buy their coffee, we could really change the world,” said Cemal Ezel, ceo and founder of Change Please.
