The British independent, family-owned jigsaw puzzle and board games company, Gibsons Games has been formally welcomed to the global B Corp community of businesses which meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact.
The certification has been awarded to Gibsons by B Lab, a non-profit organization that assesses companies based on their impact on their workers, community, environment, and customers. To achieve certification, the company underwent a comprehensive evaluation of its practices, including its governance, operations, supply chain, and social and environmental efforts.
Gibsons Games was also required to meet a minimum score on the B Impact Assessment.
“We are absolutely thrilled to achieve B Corp certification, as it reflects our longstanding commitment to having a positive impact on the world around us.” said Kate Gibson, Managing Director at Gibsons Games.
“Being part of the movement means that with every jigsaw puzzle and board game, as well as bringing joy to our customers, we and they can be sure we are meeting the highest standards of social and environmental impact.’’
Gibsons has taken a number of steps to demonstrate its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, such as:
- Launching special edition jigsaw puzzles through which a percentage of profits are donated to charities, such as Great Ormond Street Hospital.
- Localising its manufacturing, by moving away from production in China and working with factories based in the EU and UK.
- Installing solar panels in its office and recycling 85% of their waste.
- Providing First Class customer service, which can be seen via their 4.9 star Trustpilot review.
As a B Corp, Gibsons joins a growing community of more than 3,000 certified B Corps across 150 industries and 70 countries, including well-known brands such as Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, and The Body Shop. Gibsons Games is also the third member of the Products of Change community to become an accredited B Corp, joining Talking Tables and Pure Table Top.
