Gift of the Year 2024 reveals its Ethical and Sustainable Gift finalists

A DIY Bee Hotel Kit, Fair Trade Artisan Bird Nesters, and a special collection of refillable notebooks that direct profits to ocean charities have each been named among this year’s shortlisted finalists for the Ethical and Sustainable Gift of the Year.

After much deliberation and voting from across the gift retail industry, including on-site voting at this month’s Spring Fair at the NEC, the finalists for the Gift of the Year 2024 awards are finally here.

The Winners and Highly Commended products across all 20 categories will be announced at The Gift Awards taking place at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on 16th May, 2024.

Once again, this year’s judging process has been supplemented with a Live Judging Event that took place over the course of Spring Fair. It was here that the line-up of products under the Ethical and Sustainable Gift category were showcased to highlight the level of innovation driving a shift in operations to reduce environmental impact and even waste while producing in new ways.

The shortlisted finalists of this year’s Ethical and Sustainable Gift of the Year award category are:

DIY Bee Hotel Kit by Beevive Ltd.

Fair Trade Artisan Bird Nesters by Wildlife World

FRUU Solid Shower Bars by FRUU

The Ocean Collection by VENT for Change

Our Fragrant World by Best Kept Secrets Ltd.

The Grubby Gift Box by Purple Richard

Elsewhere, Willsow’s Shaun the Sheep Plantable Children’s Book has placed in the Branded Gift category, while Products of Change member, Gibsons Games has placed twice in the Games and Puzzles category for its Fast Track TfL Card Game and its Art File x Gibsons Jigsaw Collection. POC member, PlayPress Toys has placed in the Heritage Gifts category for its newly launched RNLI Boat House playset.

Chris Workman, marketing lead at the Giftware Association, said: “It was great to be back at Spring Fair to live judge again and we could not have been happier with the area allowing the products to shine and share the attention they deserve.

“We also excitingly signed up a potential 80 new judges to the awards from across the retail spectrum to judge in next year’s awards.”

The Gift of the Year awards will also be announcing the People’s Choice award which is judged by the general public, enabling everyone to vote for their favourite product across all the Gift of the Year categories.
