Regulatory updates publication debuts for the sporting goods industry

The Sporting Goods Industry Association has announced a new partnership with three leading industry experts to deliver the very latest compliance and legislation insights for the sporting goods industry.

Leading the project is commercial law firm Shoosmiths, alongside Products of Change and Mike Alexander, the SGIA’s expert in customs and trade. This powerhouse collaboration will produce Regulation & Business Insight UK a new weekly publication designed to keep members informed of critical industry trends and regulatory updates.

SGIA Chair, Mark Hammersley, commented: “For the first time, SGIA members will have exclusive access to this new and unique resource. Regulation & Business Insight UK is the result of top industry experts scanning the legal and regulatory landscape every week for developments in Commerce and Law, Sustainability Compliance, Standards and Customs.

“Only the most relevant regulations, policies and legal changes affecting the sporting goods industry will make the grade. Our experts will break down the complexities, providing clear explanations and actionable insights on what these changes mean for our member businesses.”

Shoosmiths Partner, Richard Millington, said: “We are delighted to be heading up this new project with the SGIA. In a rapidly fluctuating commercial environment, where markets and legislation are continually changing, Regulation & Business Insight UK will help to keep member businesses one step ahead. Our teams of lawyers and other professionals with the right industry knowledge, will focus on what really matters to SGIA members.”

Founder and CEO of Products of Change, Helena Mansell-Stopher, added: “Sustainability is no longer a choice – it’s a legal and commercial necessity. Failure to adapt means businesses risk falling foul of rapidly evolving UK regulations and being left behind by their competitors. Regulation & Business Insight UK will help to keep SGIA members ahead of the curve, drive the sustainable evolution of the sports industry and ensure businesses are ready for the changes ahead.”

Mike Alexander, SGIA representative at the UK government’s Joint Customs Consultative Committee (JCCC) and European Customs Operation Manager for Primark, said: “In the last few years, the number of hoops that traders have to jump through has increased significantly, impacting the amount and complexity of compliance activity that has to be undertaken. Regulation & Business Insight UKwill be an essential tool for members, helping them to negotiate the changes ahead of time.”

The first edition of Regulation & Business Insight UK will be issued to members in April and weekly thereafter.
