After successfully launching the POC bio-based plush working group at the end of last year with BioFluff, POC has continued the conversation, now with the latest version of material, ready for use.
From the last BioFluff working group, founder, Roni Gamzon, collated a list of feedback and requirements from the toy industry, detailing what they would need from the material to be able to adopt it. Since then Roni has acted on each requirement and now presents a new version of the material for review, which is ready to scale.
Ronnie introduced the new line, Zea, made from 100% bio-based PLA, which meets industry standards for softness, machine washability, and environmental benefits. The material is produced in China, with an initial price of 10-18 euros per meter, aiming to reduce costs with increased adoption. The team plans a commercial launch in 2026 and will explore additional biopolymers.
Collaboration with industry partners, including toy companies, was emphasised to scale production and drive market acceptance. Future steps include attending toy fairs and potential consortium formation for development support.
