POC to deliver two unmissable panel sessions at Licensing Expo 2025

Alongside POC’s SDG stand activation, we are delivering two expert panel sessions and discussions, as well as a drop-in opportunity at Licensing Expo this year, to continue the conversation of industry change and necessary steps, with guest speakers from Mattel, Moose, and Penguin Ventures.

Tuesday 20 May | 11:00–11:30am | Networking Hub
Designing for Impact: Sustainable Strategies in Toy Manufacturing

Wendi Wing, creative manager: branding & packaging at Moose Toys US, joins POC Advisor James George for a deep dive into the benefits of sustainable product design — both for the planet and business performance.

Moose has been furtively working on a series of impressive sustainability changes, particularly in its packaging, implementing Packaging Sustainability Guidelines (PSG) across the business.

Wendi will detail how Moose has optimised material and transport efficiency through packaging reduction, and prioritised recycled content and recyclability. Moose has also banned certain packaging materials from use and utilised FSC origin paper and water-based inks to improve its packaging’s sustainability.

James will dig deeper into these changes with Wendi, and discuss how they can be balanced with performance and cost, while navigating packaging EPR necessities.

Wednesday 21 May | 3:30–4:15pm | License Global Theatre
Driving Sustainable Transformation: The Business Case for Change

Helena Mansell-Stopher, founder and CEO of POC; Mignon Senuta, head of global sustainability & social impact at Mattel; and David Sprei, commercial director at Penguin Ventures, will examine how collective industry action can drive operational sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and increase long-term business resilience.

Helena will discuss with Mignon about how Mattel has embedded sustainability into the company’s global approach over the last two years, whether through the company’s packaging, toys, or in-house polices, and what elements have seen the most meaningful progress so far. Mignon will also speak on the lessons industry can learn from Mattel’s journey, and how efficiencies can be navigated in one area to enable progress in another.

Meanwhile, David will reveal how Penguin Venture’s sustainability commitments fit into the wider Penguin and Bertelsmann group, and how he sees the industry as whole responding the challenges it is currently facing, such as regulations and shifting expectations. Penguin Ventures is a testament to how sustainability can transform a business for the better, and David will explain how other businesses can make similar changes, both internally and externally, to begin their sustainability journey.
