Preschool series focused on the Circular Economy secures first international broadcast deal

A new live-action preschool television series focusing on sustainability and the circular economy through the eyes of two young girls who fix pre-loved and broken things at a repair shop has secured its first international broadcast deal.

Saïd and Anna has been snapped up by Sweden’s public broadcaster, SVT to launch in November 2024, distributed by the Dutch firm Incredible Film. The series debuted earlier this year in the Netherlands on EO and in Belgium on Ketnet last month.

Produced by Phanta Basta, the series follows Saïd and Anna who spend their time in a repair shop run by Saïd’s parents. Broken things are brought in by the locals and given a new life as the series sets out to teach its young audience the value of pre-loved items, the importance of protecting the environment through sustainable repairs and limiting waste, and how to view the world inclusively.

Along the way and with each item repaired, the children also discover how to find solutions to their own challenges in a creative and collaborative way – inspiring young viewers to do the same.

According to a press release, the series cornered a 49% share of Dutch preschool viewership during its first week on air. This week, the Dutch distributor will be meeting with more potential buyers at Asia TV Forum & Market in Singapore.
