The transition the greeting cards industry has been on in the last few years is apparent to even the majority of consumers. While not yet completely across the board, the movement away from unnecessary plastic has seen such effectuation in the industry – particularly when it comes to the clear plastic or cello bags that cards come in.
Speaking to some major players in the greeting cards industry, including UK Greetings, Carousel Worldwide, Danilo, and the Eco-friendly Card Company, the consensus was similar.
“The biggest impact has been plastic free packaging over the years, and more and more printers and publishers are signing up to SBTi or other similar schemes in which I hope we’ve been instrumental in trying to lead the way,” commented Steve Plackett, production director at Carousel Worldwide.
