Kidswear clothing brand MAI (Making Animals Important) has designed a new collection for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, of ethical and organic clothing for children aged 0-8 years.
The collection features unique endangered animal designs showcasing the Sumatran orangutan, ring tailed lemur and the Lesser Antillean iguana. Each piece in the collection is made from the softest certified organic cotton and all packaging is 100% plastic-free.
The new, slow-fashion, luxury range is available on the brand’s website www.mai-clothing.com, in Jersey Zoo gift shops both at the zoo and Jersey airport and also on Durrell’s website www.durrell.org
The range features unisex rompers, t-shirts, sweats, and dresses in on-trend soft pastels, khaki’s and cream organic fabrics. Each item features hand-drawn prints to highlight the animal’s stories.
Founder and designer, Tina Salt, launched the brand in 2021 following a conversation with her four-year-old daughter India-Mai about endangered animals during one of many home-schooling sessions. With years of experience and industry knowledge as a fashion buyer and her second baby on the way, Tina was inspired to follow her dream of launching a responsible and conscious fashion brand.
“I was so excited working on this range for Durrell, knowing that they do amazing conservation all over the world, and that the pieces that I have designed for them will help contribute to this,” said Tina.
“When I launched Making Animals Important two years ago this was the type of partnership that I hoped we could make. The more of us who come together working towards helping conservation the better!”
