In a collaboration driving climate education and youth engagement, Cartoon Network has joined forces once again with not-for-profit organisation and POC partner, Wastebuster, to deliver the 2025 edition of Water Week.
Now in its second year, this partnership comes as part of the broader Climate Champions campaign – Cartoon Network’s sustainability programme that has inspired kids across the globe to take over 3.2 million planet-positive actions.
Water Week brings the partnership into classrooms, homes and digital platforms via Kinzoo Messenger, across the UK and EMEA, aligning with the UN’s Water Action Decade and its call for transformative water solutions. Through this collaboration, Wastebuster is embedding Climate Champions directly into educational resources, including classroom lesson plans, assemblies, homework packs and – new for 2025 – school-wide interclass competitions designed to inspire collective action.
Children are challenged to take simple water-saving steps such as choosing showers over baths (“Make it Rain!”), identifying devices left on standby (“Red Light Scavenger Hunt”), and crafting reusable bag holders (“Bag Up Your Bags”). By gamifying sustainability, the campaign makes environmental action tangible, age-appropriate, and fun.

Complementing classroom learning, Cartoon Network is running a multiplatform campaign throughout June, including water-themed content on the Climate Champions app and microsite, on-air programming across EMEA, and engaging YouTube Shorts.
Wastebuster CEO, Katy Newnham said: “This partnership shows what’s possible when media and education come together. By embedding sustainability into kids’ everyday experiences – whether at school or on screen – we’re helping them build the knowledge, confidence and creativity to protect our planet.”

That creativity was on full display this spring, when a nationwide schools competition invited kids to imagine new ways to fight climate change. The winning idea – from 10-year-old Khalid – was turned into a striking recycled-material sculpture by renowned Liverpool-based artist Faith Bebbington, now permanently installed at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool’s Springfield Park.
Together, Cartoon Network and Wastebuster are proving that co-creation between entertainment and education can drive real-world impact – sparking imagination, shifting behaviour, and giving children the tools to become true Climate Champions.
