Kenn Viselman’s itsy bitsy Entertainment is teaming up with Europe’s premier meteorology centre and the classroom learning specialist Adventure2Learning to deliver a new MeteoHeroes video podcast series to over 20,000 schools in America.
Called The MeteoHeroes Adventure Podcast, the series marks the first phase of a “massive climate education initiative” to be offered free to schools across the USA.
The podcast is being produced by Kenn himself – a man known for bringing the likes of Thomas the Tank Engine and Teletubbies to American audiences – and Luigi Latnini, the founder of Meteo Expert, Europe’s leading meteorology centre.
It will be based on the hit IP MeteoHeroes, a climate-focused animated series that is already available in over 200 countries and in 22 languages, and will tap into the knowledge and research carried out by Meteo Expert. Founded in 1995, Meteo Expert is a leading name in applied research and forecasting in the fields of meteorology and climatology.
With the guidance of Adventure2Learning, the podcast will be available to launch into at least 20,000 schools in America at the beginning of this school year.
The first season will consist of 53 episodes and will be readily available across all podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, and Google Podcast with the first two episodes now ready to listen to. The series will be available to schools from the week of August 28th in celebration of Environmental Awareness Month this September.
“Climate Change is the existential crisis of this generation. Children of all ages are looking for answers and their caregivers are looking for an uplifting way to talk to their kids about what is happening to the planet. The fun and funny MeteoHeroes Adventures podcast is designed to give kids and their families the answers and a sense of hope. The message is always ‘you don’t need to wear a cape to be a superhero,” said Kenn.
“I am delighted to expand the concept of inclusivity by introducing a true breath of fresh air and optimism known as Brianna Colson who is living proof that we all have the power to change the world.”
The series will be hosted by the 24-year old, self-proclaimed MeteoHeroes ‘uber-super fan’ Brianna Colson, who’s love for MeteoHeroes was uncovered after watching the Earth Day Special episode ‘The Adventure Begins’ when it aired on PBS on Earth Day 2022.
“Hosting the MeteoHeroes Adventures helps me spread awareness about climate change and how we can help save our beautiful planet, which is definitely what we need right now,” she said.
The MeteoHeroes are a group of pint-sized superheroes each representing the seven continents and the different natural elements. Working together to fight climate change disasters, the heroes go to battle using their own unique superhuman abilities to save the planet. The series aims to make the viewer part of the solution by empowering them through humour and education.
“The reason schools and child psychiatrists around the world are gravitating to MeteoHeroes is that tens of millions of children are experiencing a mental health issue of epidemic proportions known as Climate Anxiety,” said Luigi Latini. “MeteoHeroes helps children feel more hopeful and optimistic about the future.
“We are launching this project because every child in America and around the world is entitled to and deserve climate education. Finding Brianna and her light-filled view of the world was the final missing ingredient to this optimistic approach to talking about the planet.”
Kenn added: “We are establishing the most comprehensive climate education initiative on the planet for every child between four and 10 years old in the country so our kids can feel more empowered and hopeful for their futures and that of the planet.
“Every day our governments don’t act is another day that children and families around the world suffer. The podcast is our first step in a much bigger journey. We have plans to expand this initiative with a new onscreen companion series, and age-graded curriculum for children from the ages of four to ten, as well as a massive global community outreach programme.”
